The concept design for the Hampton House consists of a 1,700 square foot home located on a large, sloping property on the outskirts of San Antonio. Set far back from the street, the wedge-shaped pier and beam house is an economical response to the site's challenging soil conditions and topography, as well as the client’s unique desire to observe her surroundings from above.
The shed roof mirrors the slope of the site, forming a split-level floor plan. The upstairs bedroom enjoys morning light and stretching views down the hill. The ground floor living spaces open onto a patio that is nestled into the hillside and surrounded by existing trees.
