DIGNOWITY PARKS PROJECT
The Dignowity Parks Project is a collaboration between Public Space East, residents of Dignowity Hill, the City of San Antonio, as well as many local design firms who have donated professional services to the project. Schematic Design architectural services were donated through the 1+ Program, aiding the endowment of 2017 Municipal Bond funding.

This 9-acre neighborhood park features impressive views of the downtown, and an important place in the collective memory of Dignowity Hill. Proposed improvements reflect continued community participation, focusing issues such as safety, outdoor comfort, increased programming and renewable energy generation. Small structures, such as public restrooms and a mini-cafe, are made of gabion stone walls, reflecting existing masonry park buildings. By contrast, a thin-roof pavilion hovers above the gabion buildings, providing desperately needed shade while allowing for maximum views and breezes through the pavilion.

The Dignowity Parks Project represents years of community input, citizen leadership, and volunteer support. In 2017, the Parks Project received partial funding through the 2017 San Antonio Municipal Bond. Led by TBG Landscape Architects, the municipal bond portion of the project is expected to break ground in 2020.
